Underrated Equipment #3 - Mini Ratchet and Bit Set

I have a few tools I grab each time I’m on a job. This is one of those few tools. This set is great for dash work, hard to reach screws, or when you need that extra leverage that a screwdriver does not have. The most recent job I used this on was a remote job where I did not have access to my tool box. I was called to help get a kitten out of the engine bay of a Volkswagen sedan. If you know anything about Volkswagen, they basically try to keep you out of any panel or cover by putting a random bolt in place. For example, I was expecting to use a Phillips head screwdriver or maybe a socket to get the cover under the car off to reach for the kitten. The kitten is fine by the way. Anyways, neither a screwdriver or socket would take this cover off because it was a torx head on the bolt. But, I was prepared! I had this set of different bits with me. I grabbed the set, unscrewed all the torx head bolts, got the kitten out (and that thing was a fighter), and put it all back together. This set saved me a trip back to the shop. The other cool thing about this set is that two of the bolts from the Volkswagen cover felt like they were torqued to about 150 lbs. (Of course, they were not, but they felt like it.) This little ratchet did not break when I put all that force on it to get those torx bolts loose.

If you don’t have this set, I would get it.
